Ngati Kahungunu - these are the patterns that are based on water that part from the waka.

Takitimu was one of the ancestral waka.
Kahungunu was a great diver ( he had many talents ) He practised holding his breath, counting ‘pepe tahi, pepe rua, pepe toru …’ so he could score heaps of paua. Find out more on the Teara website.
